Body Journey

I played softball from the time I was 4 years old to 17 years old. I was burnt out. The passion to do just about anything wasn’t there anymore. I was dating my current husband during my senior year in high school. He was the only motivation I pursued. I  quit working out, and playing ball. I gained so much “love” weight. I went from 130 pounds to 170.

Let me mind you. I am 5 foot 2 inches, and All of it goes it my stomach. I’m like a round peach. My husband proposed to me in July 2016. February 2017 I bought my first gym membership. I realized I didn’t love myself anymore and here I was about to get married to the man of my dreams. I looked and felt terrible. I began going to the gym every day. I started to slowly feel better. I started to realize that instead of feeling like it was a job every day, it became a hobby. I started signing up for 5k’s. A week after my wedding, I hurt my foot and had a grade 3 sprain. I was out of exercising completely for 3 weeks. I eventually eased back into it and trained. I ran a 10 navy nautical miler in June, 11.2 real miles. That was only 5 months after I started my journey. The only problem I have then, that I do now is I’m not big on diet. I quit drinking sodas and sugar and eating so much candy. I do eat healthy meals. But I just cannot seem to stop snacking. At the end of June, I joined another local gym for a six week kickboxing and physical training challenge. It was one of the hardest things but I finished. And I finished strong.

These are my results when I started the challenge:

  • Body Fat Percentage: 34.1 %
  • Waist: 42 1/2
  • Arm: 11 1/2
  • Thigh/Leg: 24 1/2
  • Hips: 44 inches

This is after my 6 week challenge:

  • Body Fat Percentage: 33.5 %
  • Waist: 40
  • Arm: 11 1/4
  • Thigh/Leg: 21 1/2
  • Hips: 41 1/2

This was so motivational for me. I lost half a percentage of body fat. 2 inches off my IMG_2104waist. A quarter of fat off of my arm. 3 inches off my thigh, and 3 inches off my hips.

I lost 2 pounds in actual weight. But I gained so much muscle. And toned up so much more than I figured I would. You guys just don’t know how much this means to me. It has definitely been a journey and it has been so hard getting rid of this weight.

The most important thing is, I am starting to love my body more and more every day. I just think that I am hot shit now. Haha. Had to put a funny in there. I never thought I could love working out. The body is so capable of many things you don’t know that you can do. But you really can do it. It just takes time and patience.

IMG_1540I am now currently kickboxing and training for the St. Jude marathon in December. I have so many people that do this with me and are so supportive. If I didn’t have someone giving me the motivation to do this, and to stick with it. To tell me they are seeing the changes, It would be hard to rely on self. I do it. And so can you.

I have a fitness page. Please feel free to check it out!
